Farid Basharat’s UFC Exit Removes a Ranked, Decision-Heavy Bantamweight From the Board
Basharat leaves the UFC unbeaten at 16-0, but his methodical combination of takedowns, control and low-risk striking matters more to future bettors than the controversy around his release.
Farid Basharat’s UFC run has ended without a loss inside the Octagon or an obvious competitive decline. BJPenn.com reported that Basharat criticized the promotion after his release, saying he had not received a new contract or an opponent following his latest victory.
The separation takes the UFC’s No. 13 bantamweight out of circulation only 96 days after he beat John Garza by unanimous decision at UFC 329. Basharat is 16-0 overall, and all eight bouts in the PropBetEdge archive ended in wins. His five most recent victories all reached the scorecards.
That combination — current ranking, sustained activity and an unbeaten record — makes the release notable. It does not, however, create an immediate betting opportunity. Basharat has no booked opponent, and no fight market exists to evaluate. The useful work for bettors is narrower: preserve an accurate picture of how he won before a new promotion, opponent or ruleset changes the context.
Basharat’s unbeaten record was built on repeatable control
Basharat’s results can look like those of a volume striker at first glance. He lands 4.05 significant strikes per minute with 52% accuracy while absorbing 2.47 per minute. His 60% striking defense also gives him a favorable landed-to-absorbed relationship.
The underlying mechanism is broader than clean kickboxing. Basharat averages 3.6 takedowns per 15 minutes and has accumulated 23 takedowns across the seven archived fights with complete round data. Those 19 rounds also produced 30 minutes of control.

That grappling layer helps regulate pace and opponent opportunity. Basharat can score on the feet, change levels and then remove stretches of open striking from the fight. The approach has allowed him to win rounds without depending on knockdowns or frantic exchanges. He recorded no knockdowns in the tracked sample and attempted only two submissions.

Lone’er Kavanagh’s variety meets Ramazan Temirov’s concentrated power at UFC 333
Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
