Joshua Van’s volume profile shapes the early read on a Manel Kape title defense
Van’s combination of sustained output, defensive exposure and decision-heavy results points bettors toward round and strike markets, but the expected matchup is not yet complete enough for a firm position.
Joshua Van has barely had time to leave UFC 331 behind, but his next title assignment is already taking shape. MMA Mania reported that Van is expected to defend against No. 1-ranked flyweight Manel Kape in early 2027.
That expectation creates a compelling stylistic question without yet producing a complete betting case. Van’s side of the matchup is unusually well documented: he generates elite volume, lands efficiently and has already carried that pace through extended fights. The missing side matters just as much. PropBetEdge does not yet have a linked bout or an opponent data file for Kape in this matchup, so any position built today would lean too heavily on one fighter’s profile.
What Van’s numbers do provide is a map of the markets most likely to matter once the booking is formalized.
Van’s offense is built to accumulate
Van lands 8.43 significant strikes per minute at 57% accuracy. Across 12 archived bouts with round data, he has landed 1,411 significant strikes over 37 rounds while posting 58% accuracy in that round-level sample.
This is not merely a high-output profile created by a handful of short fights. Van’s five most recent results include two five-round wins, two third-round wins and a first-round stoppage. He beat Alexandre Pantoja by five-round unanimous decision four days ago and stopped Tatsuro Taira in the fifth round in May. Those results show that his offense can continue producing deep into a fight rather than depending exclusively on an early burst.

The target distribution also clarifies how Van builds his totals. Of his 1,411 significant strikes, 1,050 landed to the head, compared with 252 to the body and 109 to the legs. His output is therefore heavily concentrated upstairs. That matters for significant-strike props because a high landing rate does not necessarily imply broad target variation; Van has accumulated most of his production through repeated head attacks.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
