Luis Hernandez replaces Mickey Gall against Sedriques Dumas, erasing the old UFC Vegas 121 handicap
Dumas now faces an unbeaten newcomer on two days’ notice, leaving his submission vulnerability relevant but the available Gall prices unusable.
Sedriques Dumas still has a fight at UFC Vegas 121, but he no longer has the matchup the betting market priced.
MMA Fighting reported Thursday that Mickey Gall withdrew after an issue surfaced during fight-week medicals and that Luis Hernandez will replace him on two days’ notice. The outlet reported that Hernandez is 8-0 and returns 11 days after earning a second-round rear-naked choke over Hugo Guillon on Dana White’s Contender Series.
That change cuts deeper than a name swap. Gall had a measurable UFC profile, clear grappling tendencies and established prices against Dumas. Hernandez enters with no comparable round-level sample in our database. The relevant betting question is therefore not whether the old Gall handicap can be adjusted by a few cents. It is whether any new market can price the uncertainty around Hernandez, Dumas’ recurring submission problems and the disruption created by such a late replacement.
The Gall prices expired with the matchup
The available moneyline was recorded at 18:25 UTC Thursday, before the replacement report published later that day. Gall was priced from -135 to -150 across six books, while Dumas ranged from +115 to +122.

Those numbers described a different fight. Gall brought 25 rounds of archived data, including 11 submission attempts and 18 minutes of control. He averaged 1.6 submission attempts per 15 minutes and had produced five submission wins among six archived victories. Dumas, meanwhile, owns 33 percent takedown defence and has lost his last two fights by submission.
That created an identifiable mechanism behind Gall’s price: he could attack the weakest documented part of Dumas’ game. It was not simply a case of Gall having more submission wins. His willingness to initiate submissions intersected directly with Dumas’ difficulty stopping takedowns and surviving recent grappling exchanges.
Hernandez’s Contender Series rear-naked choke keeps submission-related markets relevant, but one reported finish does not establish his entry rate, control quality or ability to reproduce that route against Dumas. Carrying Gall’s closing range into the replacement bout would treat two different grapplers as interchangeable. The data does not support that shortcut.
