Natalia Silva’s title win reinforces a decision-heavy betting profile — but the next opponent will define the angle
Silva wants an early 2027 defense rather than waiting for Valentina Shevchenko, opening several matchup paths for a champion whose edge rests on clean striking and elite takedown prevention.
Natalia Silva has the UFC flyweight belt, a nine-fight winning streak in the PropBetEdge archive and no intention of freezing the division while Valentina Shevchenko works toward a return.
In an interview published by MMA Fighting, Silva pushed back on Shevchenko’s claim to the vacant title, said contenders should respect the division’s queue and identified the first half of 2027 as her preferred window for a defense. Alexa Grasso and Erin Blanchfield were among the possible challengers she discussed.
That changes the betting setup in one important way: a Shevchenko fight is no longer the only immediate scenario worth preparing for. Silva could draw an opponent with a striking-first approach, a dedicated wrestling game or a prior loss to her. Those matchups would touch different markets, even though the champion’s underlying profile has remained remarkably stable.
Silva has built her run on repeatable striking margins
Silva’s 21-5-1 career record includes nine consecutive wins in the available UFC archive. Seven of those nine victories came by decision, including each of her last five against Wang Cong, Rose Namajunas, Alexa Grasso, Jessica Andrade and Viviane Araujo.
The mechanism is more useful than the streak. Silva lands 4.81 significant strikes per minute while absorbing 2.36, giving her a clear positive striking differential. She has connected on 45% of her significant strikes and defended 66% of the attempts coming back. Across 27 tracked rounds, she has landed 611 significant strikes.
Her offense also extends beyond head hunting. The tracked target split contains 353 head strikes, 135 body strikes and 123 leg strikes. That distribution gives her multiple ways to score without requiring a knockdown or a prolonged grappling exchange. It is a strong foundation for winning minutes and banking rounds.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
