Old Volkanovski-Evloev sparring adds familiarity, not a new UFC 333 betting signal
Their pre-UFC training history is less important than Evloev’s repeat-wrestling route and a 10-fight decision streak entering the five-round main event.

Movsar Evloev and Alexander Volkanovski shared training rounds years before their Oct. 24 meeting at UFC 333, but the revelation supplies context rather than a clean betting signal.
Bloody Elbow reported that Evloev was still a bantamweight outside the UFC when the two trained for a couple of rounds, during the period between Volkanovski’s bouts with Chad Mendes and Jose Aldo. The session is too old, too brief and too disconnected from the current versions of both fighters to carry much predictive weight.
What matters now is the matchup at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi: an unbeaten, 32-year-old contender with a wrestling-heavy accumulation game against a 38-year-old champion whose striking output remains substantially higher. The announced featherweight main event is scheduled for five rounds, and the booking in our database is marked as a non-title bout.
The old rounds do not replicate this matchup
Evloev’s development since those sessions makes any direct technical inference unreliable. He is now 20-0, ranked No. 1 at featherweight and perfect across 10 archived UFC appearances. Volkanovski is 28-4, the featherweight champion and ranked No. 2 pound-for-pound.

Their current statistical identities are also clearly defined. Evloev averages 4.78 takedowns per 15 minutes with 52 percent accuracy. Across 32 tracked rounds, he has completed 51 takedowns and accumulated 57 minutes of control. Across 32 tracked rounds, that works out to 51 takedowns and 57 minutes of control.
Volkanovski operates through a different engine. He lands 5.99 significant strikes per minute at 57 percent accuracy, compared with Evloev’s 3.91 per minute at 47 percent. The 2.08-strike-per-minute gap is the clearest measurable advantage on either side. Volkanovski has landed 1,815 significant strikes over 63 tracked rounds, with six knockdowns.
The training history does not tell bettors whether Evloev can repeatedly reach Volkanovski’s hips in 2026, whether Volkanovski can separate quickly or how either man responds after multiple rounds of failed or successful entries. Those are the mechanisms that decide the fight.

Amanda Nunes’ scouting claim adds intrigue, not proof, against Kayla Harrison
Nunes says old sparring sessions exposed persistent flaws, but the UFC 334 matchup will turn on whether her proven takedown defence survives a 1,229-day layoff.

Lone’er Kavanagh’s variety meets Ramazan Temirov’s concentrated power at UFC 333
Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
