Shavkat Rakhmonov’s return hint raises a bigger question than his 19-0 record
A possible fight with Michael Morales would pair unbeaten welterweights, but Rakhmonov’s 668-day absence makes his old finishing profile harder to carry forward without adjustment.

Shavkat Rakhmonov has opened the door to a compelling return fight without creating an actual fight to bet.
MMA Fighting reported that Rakhmonov hinted at a possible 19-0 versus 19-0 matchup with Michael Morales after Morales called him out, while also noting Rakhmonov’s persistent knee injuries, his absence since December 2024 and Morales’ three consecutive first-round knockouts.
That is enough to put the matchup on the watchlist. It is not enough to treat it as booked. There is no linked bout, and the packet contains no verified betting market or opponent-level database profile for Morales. For bettors, the immediate development is therefore informational rather than actionable: Rakhmonov may be approaching a return after 668 days away, and his condition could matter more than the undefeated records used to sell the matchup.
Rakhmonov’s finishing reputation has a grappling engine
Rakhmonov’s seven-fight archive contains seven wins: five by submission, one by knockout or technical knockout and one by decision. The resulting 86% finish rate applies only to those seven archived wins, not his full 19-fight career.
The mechanism behind that number matters. This is not a profile built primarily on knockdowns or reckless striking exchanges. Across 16 tracked rounds, Rakhmonov has recorded one knockdown, seven takedowns, six submission attempts and 37 minutes of control. His career rates sit at 1.4 takedowns and 1.2 submission attempts per 15 minutes.

His takedown accuracy is only 25%, with the round-level data showing 26%. That limits any simplistic reading of him as an effortless takedown artist. He does not need every entry to work, however. Successful entries can produce long control sequences, advancement and submission opportunities. Five submissions in seven archived UFC bouts show what happens when that phase connects, even if the initial takedown efficiency is modest.
