Smilla Sundell earns UFC contract, but her betting profile remains unfinished
Sundell’s pressure striking carried her through Contender Series, yet one decision and almost no verified MMA data leave bettors with mechanisms to monitor rather than an immediate edge.
Smilla Sundell has entered the UFC much faster than her statistical profile has developed.
Sherdog reported that Sundell defeated Aline Pereira by unanimous decision on Week 10 of Dana White’s Contender Series, with all three judges scoring the bantamweight fight 29-28; the result moved her reported record to 3-0 and earned her a contract after matchmaker Mick Maynard persuaded Dana White to sign her despite concerns about her readiness. PropBetEdge’s current fighter file still lists Sundell at 2-0, creating a record discrepancy that will need to be reconciled before her UFC debut.
The signing is consequential because Sundell brings obvious combat-sports experience but almost no established MMA sample. She is 21 years old, stands 5-foot-10 and has a 69.5-inch reach at 135 pounds. Those dimensions give bettors an initial framework. They do not establish whether she can consistently impose her preferred fight.
Pressure striking produced the contract
Sundell’s winning mechanism against Pereira was sustained forward pressure. She mixed strikes while forcing Pereira to work from the back foot, then continued advancing after being taken down and returning to her feet in the third round.
That distinction matters more than the bare result. Sundell did not secure the contract with a single damaging exchange or a low-event tactical decision. She created offense by occupying space, building combinations and repeatedly making Pereira respond. If that style survives against UFC opposition, significant-strike and round-total markets could become more relevant than a simple win-loss handicap.

Pressure can increase both sides’ output. A fighter who advances consistently creates more opportunities to land, but she also gives opponents more countering chances. Pereira found some of those counters, which prevents the performance from being treated as evidence of one-way striking control. Without verified landed and absorbed totals, there is no basis to quantify Sundell’s offensive pace, defensive efficiency or expected striking margin.
