Tatsuro Taira’s Betting Profile Is Unchanged by UFC’s Latest Prospect Signing
Tatsuro Taira remains a flyweight with a grappling-led statistical profile, while the addition of an unbeaten bantamweight creates no immediate betting signal around him.

The UFC has added another unbeaten champion, but the transaction does not change Tatsuro Taira’s immediate betting picture.
Bloody Elbow reported that Asaf Chopurov signed with the UFC after a 34-1 amateur career and an 11-0 professional start, having won the UAE Warriors bantamweight championship in 2025 and defended it twice. That deepens a separate division. Taira competes at flyweight, where he is ranked No. 4 as of Sept. 25, and no bout connects him to the signing.
That distinction matters. A prominent acquisition can generate broad assumptions about divisional movement, future matchmaking or competitive pressure. None of those assumptions produces a usable Taira angle here. He has no opponent attached to this story, and there is no verified market or graded projection for a future fight.
The useful exercise is narrower: establish what Taira’s existing data says, which eventual markets it could affect, and why those conclusions must wait for an opponent.
Taira’s game still runs through layered grappling
Taira is 18-2 overall and 8-2 across the 10 archived bouts in our database. His career rates show 3.57 takedowns and 1.3 submission attempts per 15 minutes, compared with 2.87 significant strikes landed per minute. That is not the statistical shape of a fighter who needs a clean kickboxing match to create offense.
The round-level totals reinforce the mechanism. Across 27 tracked rounds, Taira has landed 28 takedowns, accumulated 63 minutes of control and attempted 10 submissions. His takedown accuracy sits at 43 percent on the career line and 44 percent in the round-level sample. The consistency between those figures matters more than a small difference in rounding: his grappling output has not depended on an implausibly high conversion rate.
