Aaron Pico’s Losene Keita Switch Wipes Out the Arnold Allen Handicap
Pico keeps his UFC 333 date, but the late opponent change replaces a measurable top-10 matchup with a short-notice fight that cannot yet support a responsible price or prop projection.
Aaron Pico still has a fight at UFC 333, but bettors no longer have the fight they spent time handicapping.
Cageside Press reported that Arnold Allen is out after ongoing treatment for previous injuries left him without enough time to recover, with 17-2 former Oktagon champion Losene Keita accepting the replacement assignment against Pico. The three-round featherweight bout remains attached to the Oct. 24 card at Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
The opponent change is not cosmetic. Allen offered a defined UFC sample, strong defensive indicators and a style that placed Pico’s wrestling under direct scrutiny. Keita enters on short notice with only two UFC results identified in the report: a decision loss to Nathaniel Wood in March and a knockout of Muhammad Naimov earlier this month. PropBetEdge does not yet have the round-level Keita data needed to translate those results into reliable matchup rates.
That distinction should govern the betting response. Pico’s tendencies remain measurable. The resistance those tendencies will encounter is not.

Pico’s wrestling is still the first mechanism to price
Pico has landed 6.54 takedowns per 15 minutes at 50% accuracy across his UFC career. Through two archived bouts and four rounds, he has completed eight takedowns and accumulated five minutes of control. He has not attempted a recorded submission in that sample.
Those numbers describe a repeat-entry wrestler rather than a submission hunter. If Pico can force Keita backward, connect his striking pressure to level changes and keep recycling attempts, takedown and control-related markets could become more relevant than a simple read on who looks sharper at kickboxing range.
The caveat is substantial. Pico’s UFC sample consists of only two fights. Eight takedowns across four rounds can identify the route he has taken, but it cannot establish how consistently that route works across different defensive styles. Keita’s takedown defence, get-up process and ability to punish failed entries are all missing from the packet.

Nunes says old sparring sessions exposed persistent flaws, but the UFC 334 matchup will turn on whether her proven takedown defence survives a 1,229-day layoff.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
