Esteban Ribovics’ UFC 332 weight miss adds uncertainty, not a durable betting signal
Ribovics’ second straight knockout strengthens his early-finish profile, but the half-pound miss cannot yet be separated from a one-off cutting problem.
Esteban Ribovics left UFC 332 with the result that matters most—a first-round knockout of King Green—but also with a weight-cutting question that bettors will carry into his next booking.
MMA Fighting reported that Ribovics weighed 0.5 pounds over the limit, forfeited 20 percent of his purse, lost eligibility for post-fight bonuses and blamed an air-conditioned hotel workout room for interrupting his final sweat. The bout proceeded at catchweight, and Ribovics stopped Green in the opening round.
That explanation supplies a plausible mechanism for the miss: an environmental disruption during the final stage of the cut rather than an announced injury or a deliberate decision to stop cutting. It does not establish whether Ribovics misjudged the process before the room cooled, how depleted he was, or whether the extra half-pound affected his performance.
For bettors, the distinction matters. A repeatable weight-management problem can influence moneyline, durability and late-round markets. A one-time hotel issue carries much less forecasting value. One miss followed by a quick win does not settle which category this belongs in.
The knockout fits Ribovics’ established offensive profile
Ribovics improved to 17-3 and has now stopped Green in the first round and Edson Barboza in the second in consecutive appearances. Those results represent a meaningful change in recent form: his previous two wins over Elves Brener and another opponent in the 10-fight archive came by decision, while his April loss to Mateusz Gamrot ended by second-round submission.

The mechanism behind the new streak is striking damage, not a broader shift toward grappling. Ribovics lands 7.43 significant strikes per minute with 43 percent career accuracy. Across nine fights with round-level data, he has landed 713 significant strikes in 21 rounds and scored five knockdowns. Only two takedowns and four minutes of control appear in that sample.

Nunes says old sparring sessions exposed persistent flaws, but the UFC 334 matchup will turn on whether her proven takedown defence survives a 1,229-day layoff.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
