Natalia Silva-Wang Cong betting read: Volume meets defense in UFC 332 main event
Wang owns the higher output, but Silva’s defensive efficiency and proven decision pattern complicate the case for backing the busier striker at plus money.
ESPN MMA opened its UFC 332 coverage around Natalia Silva and Wang Cong’s main event at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, presenting the matchup as the fight that would fill the women’s flyweight vacancy after Valentina Shevchenko’s injury. PropBetEdge’s card record lists Silva-Wang as an announced five-round main event, although its title flag remains marked false.
That administrative discrepancy does not alter the matchup, but it matters for bettors assessing what the promotion expects from the bout. Silva, 29, enters 20-5-1 and ranked No. 1 at flyweight in our latest table. Wang, 34, is 10-1 and ranked No. 8. The market has installed Silva between -198 and -220, with Wang available from +163 to +180 as of Saturday’s observation.
The price asks a direct question: Is Wang’s superior recorded output enough to overcome Silva’s cleaner defensive profile and stronger body of UFC results?
Wang’s volume edge is real, but it is not self-explanatory
Wang lands 6.22 significant strikes per minute to Silva’s 4.81, a gap of 1.41 per minute. Her 56% career accuracy also exceeds Silva’s 45%, while their reach is effectively even: 65.5 inches for Wang and 65 for Silva. Both fight southpaw, so neither owns a basic stance advantage.

Those numbers identify Wang’s clearest mechanism. She can create a scoring edge by sustaining exchanges, landing efficiently and forcing Silva to work at a pace above her usual baseline. Wang has landed 478 significant strikes across 15 tracked rounds in six bouts. Her target distribution is broad—225 to the head, 114 to the body and 139 to the legs—which reduces the risk that her offense becomes dependent on one lane.
But raw output does not settle the matchup. Silva absorbs only 2.36 significant strikes per minute and owns 66% striking defense. Wang absorbs slightly less at 2.19 per minute, though her defense is lower at 63%. Silva’s 502 landed significant strikes across 22 tracked rounds also come with a balanced target split: 289 head, 107 body and 106 leg.
