Wang Cong’s UFC 332 loss puts her pacing under the betting microscope
Dana White blamed a delayed offensive push, but Wang’s broader data points more clearly toward decision and striking markets than a proven slow-start problem.
Wang Cong left UFC 332 without the vacant women’s flyweight championship after Natalia Silva won their five-round main event by unanimous decision. The immediate criticism focused less on Wang’s tools than on when she chose to deploy them.
BJPenn.com reported that Dana White believed Wang waited too long to increase her offense, saying she needed to have “stepped on the gas” earlier. That assessment matters because it frames the defeat as a pacing failure rather than evidence that Wang could not compete with Silva.
For bettors, however, the distinction cannot be settled by one post-fight diagnosis. PropBetEdge’s aggregate data establishes Wang as an efficient, defensively responsible striker whose recent fights repeatedly reach the scorecards. It does not provide the round-by-round UFC 332 output needed to confirm how sharply her activity changed late in the fight.
The result strengthens a decision profile already visible in Wang’s record
Wang is now 10-2 after the defeat. Her four previous appearances ended in unanimous-decision victories over Tracy Cortez, Eduarda Moura, Ariane Lipski da Silva and Bruna Brasil. Add the five-round loss to Silva, and each of Wang’s latest five bouts has gone to a decision.
The broader archived sample includes eight bouts: six wins and two losses. Four of those six wins came by decision, while one came by knockout or technical knockout and one by submission. Her listed 33% finish rate on wins therefore comes from only six victories in this archive, not from a large sample that should be treated as a stable finishing baseline. She has been finished once.
Mechanically, the recent sequence matters because Wang has been accumulating enough offense to win rounds without consistently turning that offense into stoppages. Her career numbers show 6.22 significant strikes landed per minute at 56% accuracy. She absorbs 2.19 per minute and owns a 63% striking-defence mark. That combination describes a fighter who can build a scoring margin while limiting clean return offense.
