Jai Herbert’s upset of Matheus Camilo changes the betting read on his late-career wins
Herbert cashed at prices as high as +165 by surviving Camilo’s grappling pressure and turning defensive sequences into decisive offense.
Jai Herbert did not need a clean kickboxing match to upset Matheus Camilo. He won through the moments that were supposed to favor his opponent.
Cageside Press reported that all three judges scored Saturday’s UFC Vegas 122 co-main event 29-28 for Herbert after Camilo secured takedowns in each of the first two rounds but lost position during a second-round scramble and failed on late attempts in the third. The unanimous decision gave Herbert consecutive wins for the first time in his five most recent appearances and moved his professional record to 15-6-1.
The result also landed against a clear market position. Herbert closed between +150 and +165 across the seven listed sportsbooks, while Camilo ranged from -185 to -200. The best recorded Herbert price was +165 at BetMGM; FanDuel offered +162, and BetOnline, DraftKings and Bovada each sat near +160.
This was more than a winning ticket on the less-fancied side. Herbert showed a route to victory that did not depend entirely on maintaining long range or producing an early knockout.
