Marvin Vettori’s reset meets a market already backing Ismail Naurdiev at UFC 332
Vettori says his recent form no longer reflects him, but bettors must decide whether a change in preparation can repair the defensive and efficiency gaps behind four straight decision losses.

Marvin Vettori has identified the problem. Proving he has fixed it is the harder part.
MMA Fighting’s Oct. 1 interview detailed Vettori’s harsh review of his four-fight losing streak, his relocation from Florida to California and his account of the rib and back issues that preceded this rebooked UFC 332 matchup with Ismail Naurdiev. That creates a legitimate change in circumstances ahead of Saturday’s three-round middleweight bout in Salt Lake City. It does not, by itself, establish a betting edge.
The market has made Naurdiev the favorite. At the Oct. 1 snapshot, his moneyline ranged from -125 at Caesars to -145 at BetMGM. Vettori was available between +105 and +120, with BetMGM offering the high price.
That range asks the central question cleanly: Is Vettori an established, durable volume fighter whose recent decline has created buy-low value, or are bettors being offered plus money on a fighter whose underlying defensive problems have become too expensive?

The losing streak is a process problem, not a durability problem
Vettori’s four consecutive defeats all went to the scorecards: five-round decisions against Jared Cannonier and Roman Dolidze, followed by three-round decisions against Brendan Allen and Brunno Ferreira. His last victory also came by decision, over Dolidze in March 2023.
Across 18 archived bouts, Vettori has never been finished. He has won nine of those fights, with seven decisions and two submissions. He owns no knockout or TKO wins in that sample. That profile matters because the recent results have not come from one catastrophic defensive failure. Opponents have beaten him by accumulating cleaner work over time.
The career rates show the exchange he has accepted. Vettori lands 4.74 significant strikes per minute but absorbs 4.55. His 45 percent striking accuracy and 56 percent defense leave limited margin when his pace slips or his opponent wins the cleaner moments. The database gives Vettori a 1.08-significant-strike-per-minute volume advantage over Naurdiev, but volume alone does not resolve efficiency.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
