Nate Landwehr’s Lightweight Move Changes the Inputs, Not the Durability Risk
Landwehr leaves featherweight on a three-fight knockout skid, but Mandel Nallo’s thin UFC sample makes a steep favorite price difficult to evaluate cleanly.
Nate Landwehr is changing divisions at the point when his old operating model looks least sustainable. Cageside Press reported that the 38-year-old is moving to lightweight after three consecutive losses, all by knockout or TKO, and views himself as having “nothing to lose” against Mandel Nallo at UFC Edmonton.
The fight is scheduled for three rounds Saturday at Rogers Place. Landwehr says the move from 145 to 155 pounds has increased his punching power while preserving a potential speed advantage. Those are relevant claims, but neither has been tested in this division. The verified evidence entering the fight is harsher: Landwehr has been stopped in five of his 11 archived bouts, including each of his last three appearances.
That tension defines the betting problem. A less demanding weight cut could change Landwehr’s physical performance, but the move does not automatically repair the defensive habits that have left him absorbing 5.96 significant strikes per minute. Nallo is priced between -265 and -310 across the available moneylines, while Landwehr ranges from +218 to +230. The favorite’s case is mechanically coherent, but the data supporting that price remain unusually shallow.

The extra 10 pounds do not erase Landwehr’s defensive exposure
Landwehr has built his fights around sustained exchanges rather than strike avoidance. Across 24 rounds with data, he has landed 571 significant strikes, an average reflected in his career rate of 5.55 per minute. He has also absorbed 5.96 per minute while defending 51 percent of incoming significant strikes.

That is the core problem against a taller, longer lightweight. Nallo stands 6 feet with a 75-inch reach, giving him three inches in height and reach over Landwehr. If Nallo can force entries from long range, Landwehr must cross more distance before reaching the exchanges where his pressure and output become useful.

Nunes says old sparring sessions exposed persistent flaws, but the UFC 334 matchup will turn on whether her proven takedown defence survives a 1,229-day layoff.

Temirov’s five knockdowns create the obvious danger, but Kavanagh’s reach, target diversity and deeper grappling record complicate every finish-based betting angle.
