Alexander Volkanovski’s Evloev knockout changes the betting question at 38
A second-round finish at UFC 333 extends Volkanovski’s resurgence, but his next matchup will determine whether bettors should price renewed power, proven anti-wrestling or both.
Alexander Volkanovski stopped Movsar Evloev in the second round at UFC 333, adding a third consecutive victory to a comeback that has now included two five-round decisions and a knockout. At 38, the featherweight champion is 29-4 and ranked No. 2 pound-for-pound.
MMA Mania used the result to declare the featherweight greatest-of-all-time debate over, emphasizing Volkanovski’s ability to deny, escape and reverse Evloev’s wrestling. The historical argument will dominate the aftermath. For bettors, the more useful question is narrower: what did this performance reveal that should change the way Volkanovski’s next fight is priced?
The answer is not simply that he won again. Volkanovski’s route to victory changed. His two previous wins over Diego Lopes required 10 combined rounds and produced unanimous decisions. Evloev did not reach the midpoint of the fight. That puts method-of-victory and duration markets back under scrutiny, but one knockout cannot establish a new late-career finishing baseline.
The three-fight recovery now has two distinct mechanisms
Volkanovski entered this run after consecutive knockout losses: a first-round defeat against Islam Makhachev in October 2023 and a second-round defeat against Ilia Topuria in February 2024. He responded by beating Lopes over five rounds in April 2025, repeating that result over another five rounds in January 2026, then stopping Evloev in Round 2.
That sequence matters because it answers two different questions. The Lopes fights demonstrated that Volkanovski could still sustain a championship-length workload after being finished twice. The Evloev result showed that his upside is not restricted to banking rounds and reaching the scorecards.

Azamat Bekoev’s withdrawal erases a -400 matchup and resets Andre Petroski’s betting case
The cancelled UFC Vegas 123 bout removes a volatile striker-versus-wrestler handicap, while Petroski’s reported rebooking cannot yet be priced from the available evidence.
Islam Makhachev’s delay shifts the welterweight betting question from opponent to matchup
Makhachev passed on Carlos Prates and will wait for the interim-title winner, leaving bettors with a proven control profile but no opponent-specific edge yet.
