Volkanovski’s lightweight push changes the matchup, not yet the bet
Alexander Volkanovski has the résumé and recent form to pursue another title at 155 pounds, but his featherweight data cannot be transferred cleanly without an opponent and booking.
Alexander Volkanovski is pushing for another lightweight title opportunity one day after stopping Movsar Evloev in the second round at UFC 333. MMA Mania reported that the 38-year-old would consider retiring after a title fight with Justin Gaethje and would also accept Arman Tsarukyan if the belt became vacant, provided his move did not stall either division.
That creates a legitimate matchmaking story, but not yet a standalone betting position. Volkanovski has no linked bout, and the potential opponents present different mechanical questions. His featherweight record establishes what he does well; it does not establish how those tools would function in a specific lightweight title fight.
The Evloev finish adds a new result to an old profile
Volkanovski’s second-round stoppage of Evloev extended his winning streak to three. The sequence now includes consecutive five-round unanimous decisions over Diego Lopes followed by the Evloev knockout. That matters because the latest result interrupted a decision-heavy pattern without erasing it.
Across 19 archived UFC bouts, Volkanovski has 16 wins and three losses. Ten of those wins came by decision, six by knockout or technical knockout, and none by submission. His 38% finish rate applies only to those 16 victories; it should not be read as a universal probability for his next fight.
The underlying production explains why distance and total-round markets would require more than a reaction to the Evloev stoppage. Volkanovski lands 5.99 significant strikes per minute at 57% accuracy while absorbing 3.31. Over 65 tracked rounds, he has landed 1,871 significant strikes but recorded only six knockdowns. His offense has generally been built around sustained accumulation, positional initiative and repeat scoring rather than a knockdown-dependent finishing game.

Azamat Bekoev’s withdrawal erases a -400 matchup and resets Andre Petroski’s betting case
The cancelled UFC Vegas 123 bout removes a volatile striker-versus-wrestler handicap, while Petroski’s reported rebooking cannot yet be priced from the available evidence.
Islam Makhachev’s delay shifts the welterweight betting question from opponent to matchup
Makhachev passed on Carlos Prates and will wait for the interim-title winner, leaving bettors with a proven control profile but no opponent-specific edge yet.
