Damian Pinas-Susurkaev Booking Puts a First-Round Finishing Run Under Stress
Pinas has produced four consecutive first-round knockouts, but the UFC 335 matchup raises unanswered questions about his wrestling defense, pace and effectiveness beyond the opening round.
Damian Pinas has spent the past year removing suspense from his fights. His next booking should create more of it.
Bloody Elbow reported that Pinas will face Baisangur Susurkaev at UFC 335 on Dec. Bloody Elbow reported that Susurkaev is unbeaten through 12 fights, describing him as a 25-year-old grappling threat and longtime training partner of Khamzat Chimaev. That framing makes the matchup relevant beyond the prospect-versus-prospect label: Pinas’ available UFC data is explosive but narrow, and the fight could force him into phases his four-fight finishing run has barely shown.
Pinas is 11-1 overall and has won all four bouts in the PropBetEdge archive by first-round knockout or TKO. Three came during his 2026 UFC schedule, against Wes Schultz, Cesar Almeida and Andrey Pulyaev. The fourth was his 2025 win over Vitor Costa on Dana White’s Contender Series.
For bettors, the booking changes the central question. Pinas no longer can be evaluated only as an early knockout threat. His defensive wrestling, ability to manage clinch pressure and effectiveness after five minutes now matter to the fight-goes-distance, total-rounds, method-of-victory and round-betting markets. The problem is that the database does not yet contain enough information on Susurkaev—or enough extended footage of Pinas—to resolve those questions.
Pinas’ offense is accurate, layered and built for immediate damage
The first-round results are supported by more than a clean record line. Across three bouts with round-level data, Pinas landed 45 significant strikes at 71 percent accuracy and scored four knockdowns. He distributed those strikes across the head, body and legs: 24 to the head, 14 to the legs and seven to the body.
That target mix matters. Pinas is not simply headhunting until one overhand lands. The 14 leg strikes give opponents another level to defend, while the body work can lower the guard and create openings upstairs. His 79.5-inch reach at 6-foot-1 also gives him the physical tools to initiate exchanges from range, although Susurkaev’s measurements are not available in the packet and no reach advantage can be established.

Merab Dvalishvili’s Yan Problem Is About Converting Pressure, Not Creating More of It
TJ Dillashaw’s proposed fix could alter Dvalishvili’s takedown and striking markets, but bettors need evidence of a tactical change before pricing it in.

Erosa leaves after a first-round stoppage, ending a 32-14 career defined by high-output striking, defensive exposure and multiple finishing routes.
